Product claims to work with hot or cold drinks. Stick a straw into a hot beverage that will soften and sour in seconds, like overcooked spaghetti. Also, it has a very bad taste. Very disappointed as I ordered these based on the good reviews as an alternative to plastic straws - I have paper, glass, bamboo straws before but was looking for something sturdy, like old fashioned plastic straws. It's not like this.

I bought all Avoplast products - forks, spoons, knives, straws. Cutlery is very durable. I have straws in my car so when I go to a restaurant or go for a walk I don't need straws. Nothing to clean, just throw it away, but it breaks pretty quickly. Straws are like strong paper straws. They're more expensive than buying plastic, but it's important to me to make as many things as possible - big or small - to help the environment.

I like these straws. I don't like paper straws because they fall apart very quickly, and not only are reusable straws difficult to clean, you end up using so much dish soap that you end up losing the environmental benefit of reusing straws! That's a great compromise. They are very strong and do not break down in the mouth. I've reused them by simply rinsing them out after drinking soda. I haven't tried shake or anything messier.
