Bought to replace a GE microwave. It had a wire mesh on either side of the charcoal filter instead of one side like the original. Apparently too much heat or for some other reason the microwave is not working properly. I replaced it with the original mfg and everything worked.

This filter is as good if not better than what you can buy direct from GE! OBE ordered for comparison. I won't be buying this from GE again in the future - certainly not because of the huge price difference. Bagean filters were much cheaper, were the same quality, and were exactly the same (i.e. correct) size.

Exactly as pictured and I had to download the installation guide as my unit was factory modified for the non-muffled model. The two screws about 2-3 inches from each end at the top of the plastic vent should be removed so you can pull the vent out to remove the old filter and replace with a new one.

Okay let me explain this to all the people who are complaining that this filter is 'more transparent' than the one they are replacing. First, all filters are clearly visible. What do you think the filter is for? Once it's picked up all the junk, it looks just like what you just pulled out. The only reason your precious filter looks darker is because it's doing its job! People are so inept, I swear.

I purchased (2) charcoal filters for my GE Cafe convection/microwave oven. The size required for the cafe is the JX81H filter. The replacement filter is shielded on both sides as other reviews have noted, but fits easily in our coffee shop oven. Dimensions 8 3/4" x 3 7/8" x 3/8". Model JNM7196SK1SS actually uses this filter (JX81H or WB02X10956). This filter they gave me sent actually has metal grills on both sides with a charcoal filter between the frame. The original part that came with the microwave has the charcoal filter on one side and a metal grill on the other. Anyway it fits.
