Cheap junk! for antennas

Wow what a waist of a few bucks. It looks like a child's toy! Really disappointed! Cheap! Cheap! Cheap! I don't understand how they can sell such junk!

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Communication with seller

It will surprise you.

It's only about 6 inches tall but I hooked up my gauges, it handled the full power from my handheld baofeng, it generated a 1:1 SWR so it works fine. I suspect this will not be antenna gain yet, but time will tell. It does an excellent job on the antenna problem in the car.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Nothing here

Good antenna for the price.

Not a bad little antenna for the price. I have used it with Baofeng bf888s which I have modified for star nodes. I keep it in the window of my house and can reach my Star Node in about a mile. Considering the small size of this antenna and the obstacles in the way of this thing, as well as indoors by a window, it's pretty impressive for this little guy.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Some flaws

Is that an antenna for ants?!?!?!?!?!

Imagine a short antenna connected to a cable. I think I would have better reception with a telescoping AM/FM antenna separate from a pocket radio with a dual AA transistor. It must have been an unfortunate joke that someone at the factory brought up and accidentally put into production. Don't buy this. It doesn't improve anything. You can achieve the same effect by holding your radio out of the window. This tiny little antenna, my vx-3 yeast could be bigger.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Almost never

Lightweight and small, ideal for travel and close-range work!

The antenna is much smaller than I thought. Then after leaving it in my car for a week and driving the 180 mph speed limit to and from work, I noticed it was still lying on the car and not moving at all. Not the best gain, but better HT hold and less fading. Just treat him well and be gentle with him. It works well for the money. At 2m he prefers the 440.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Some difficulties

No improvement over rubber duck antenna

I was hoping that having the antenna outside the car would improve reception and transmission, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Tried Simplex and Repeater with very poor results. In fact, I still had better results with my rubber duck antenna in the car. It had the correct connector for the Baofeng UV-5R, but the problem was that the connector didn't rotate, so you had to plug the radio into the connector, which was more of an inconvenience than anything. I drove at freeway speeds (80…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion

A dummy load antenna will suit you better.

So let's go. This is an "antenna", it is magnetic and dual band. But if you think you're getting a significant improvement over the small antenna on your baofeng or similar, you'd be terribly mistaken. I have an 8" Sainsonic whip which does better and I have a small spiral antenna with "dummy load" (Rubber Duck) which isn't as good. I'm in my car or outside, it doesn't matter. With this antenna I will not hit the target. With the whip (again inside or outside my car) I hit it 5x5. I figured I…

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • No performance
