πŸ’¦[Extend DIY CH] UV-9G has set 31-54 CH as DIY repeater channels except for the common 23-30 CH. UV-9G has 30 GMRS pre-programmed channels + 11 NOAA channels with weather radio alert function. UV-9G is ready to go, right out of the box even outdoors. FCC ID: 2AJGM-P52UV (Part 95E & Part 15B Certificated). VHF & UHF receiver. Compatible with all BAOFENG FRS/GMRS radios. πŸ’¦[IP67 Waterproof] With better waterproof and dustproof ability than old models, UV-9G can be submerged in water up to 3ft/1m depth for 30 minutes without any damage. Just choose UV-9G at a lower cost and better quality when hiking, kayaking, boating, etc. πŸ’¦[Long Range for Adults] Up to 5 miles talking range without GMRS repeater. While using UV-9G with a GMRS repeater, it can catch a further-ranging signal. Brave the heavy weather whether by land or by sea, just count on this semi-rugged waterproof comm. and keep your team in connected. Antenna detachable, you can replace it to test longer talking distance. πŸ’¦[Programming Cable Included] UV-9G comes with a BAOFENG original programming cable (328 Moto- Jack). You can easily ham it up via keypad manual or PC (Just ask to send the software). The bright flashlight and tri-color LCD display provide a clear look in dark. Besides, it’s with VOX hands-free calling function. πŸ’¦[NOAA Weather Alert Radio] No cellular signals in adventures? UV-9G can stand by 24/7, send instant alerts, and wake you up from dreams. The NOAA function requires only a little power from the 1500mAh battery. With above exceptional capabilities, UV-9G is cool stuff if you're finding a survival radio.

Reliable radio

Bought 2 of these and replaced antennas. I had to remove some pre-programmed CTCSS codes, but it doesn't matter what some are complaining about. The device is solid and worth the money. I also have some UV-5g and they are great too. I would buy again. Yes I plan to buy at least 2 more when they go on sale.

You can expect about a mile in town

So far I've been able to walk up to a mile with trees and houses on the trail and 5 to 10 miles on the freeway depending on the hills and buildings. , I have yet to find a large enough open area to test how far it can transmit. Also, I can't reach the repeater because it's over 80 miles away and there are a lot of trees, buildings, and hills in the way.

The Beofeng UV-9G Radio is a really good GMRS radio.

The Beofeng UV-9G radio is a really good GMRS radio received by Radioddity via Revain. When I received the battery locking clip I didn't want to lock the radio so I emailed Radioddity support and they responded quickly and sent me a new radio battery which fixed the radio clip issue. Great support from Radioddity, thanks to Radioddity and my assistant Nora! Would definitely buy from them again.

The battery latch does not hold the battery.

The battery lock does NOT hold the battery. This essentially renders the radio a total failure, but it wasn't worth sending the $40 radio back, so I brought the heat gun to the retaining clip and then bent it down. I then cleaned the clip surface with a jeweler's file and the battery is now securely in place. There must be a manufacturing defect in the battery. Other reviews I have read about this radio have not mentioned this issue. Battery issues aside, the radio is great, especially for the…

I want it to be a good radio

Got mine today (08/23). Read about all the problems people faced. Not sure if I got a new batch, but here's what I got: The battery stays attached once it snaps into place. I have to pull the latch to disengage and rip it off. The # key does not change the transmit power. All channels have Rx/Tx codes set to 67 or D023N. Took me a few minutes for the clunky software but I fixed it. The Nagoya antenna is not suitable. The standard antenna is fine, but it doesn't seem to have the same range as my

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • I really don't like it, everything is fine

The battery does not attach properly right out of the box. So it crashes straight out of the gate. Also, all GMRS channels are pre-programmed to CTCSS 67 by default. So you can't hear anything from other radios you already have until you plug them in. Computer and replace them all and/or program other radios to use CTCSS Tone 67, or discard all other radios and purchase only those. Again, out-of-the-box compatibility with other radios is not possible. It's pretty hard to appreciate the radio's…

Amazing - very good quality

I have had several Baofeng UV-5R ham radios that I have used over the years and although they are cheap and not of the best build quality they have worked very well . When I saw Baofeng launching these new waterproof GMRS radios, I decided to try two. Let me just say that these are definitely not just reprogrammed UV-5Rs. They play in a different quality league. In terms of radio quality, I would put it very close to my Yaesu FT-70D amateur radio. They're a good weight and there's more…
