It's definitely a solid piece of metal, I agree! I had to throw away at least 12 bottles of beer because the carbide chipped off the lid of the bottle when I opened the beer. The spout option is a good idea if you don't work in a busy bar. It takes a long time to get the spout out of the bottle and out of the bottle opener. I wouldn't recommend buying it unless it's just for personal use or if you don't know how to get the spout out of a liquor bottle.
