Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Lights Mermaid Review

I am only giving this item 1 star because it stopped working shortly after receiving it. My daughters could only play with it in the water 2-3 times before it stopped glowing. Then the mold started growing at the base of her hair near the scalp. Hmm, rude. Do not buy this item if you do not want your children to play with moldy toys.

I don't know why this happens when the battery just burns out after a few minutes underwater, but it scares me! This is the fourth time since I received this toy! And this is the 1st time. So even though the batter was set wrong I got new batteries and it happened again!

This item was perfect it was a mermaid and she glowed underwater! My granddaughter loved this mermaid doll, especially being able to play with her in the bath while the light was flashing, but she and I were very disappointed when the light stopped working after a week of playing with the doll! I tried replacing the battery twice but that didn't solve the problem. If the doll would glow in water for at least a month, that would be a dollar well spent!

The first one we got got lost when we moved. The little one was heartbroken and begged us for a replacement for months to find her, every day she asked if there was another box in the garage she could be in, but after checking them all the mermaid was gone . . Because she was so attached to this particular toy we got this one and she didn't leave it for a week and as she got a little older she takes better care of her toys now because she understands when they put them in random places lets go…

Excellent Barbie! I bought this for my 4 year old for Christmas and so far the doll has held up great for 6 months. My daughter took it to the pool almost every weekend and to the bathroom every evening and the batteries are still working, it still lights up. The hair dries well, there are no signs of wear, they look like new. The crown has fallen off, but it's not scary. Overall I'm very impressed. This is my daughter's favorite doll and I hope it lasts a long time. UPDATE: 2 years later…

I Love That Mermaid Barbie! This is my new favorite bath toy for my 4 year old. She loves mermaids and dolls in general and this barbie covers both. She likes lights and her cock. I wish her crown would stay on her better. There were two pendants in the kit that held the crown to her and I chose not to attach them so the crown would stay on her. Must be a serious issue as some people's mermaids seem to last months but mine, like others, only lasts a few weeks. A total of 4 times in the bath and it stopped working. I took off the battery cover and it's all wet and rusty. There is an o-ring inside, but it's pushed so deep into the crack that I don't think it actually does anything. I ordered new batteries (I needed that size for another toy anyway) so let's see what happens. I will add some waterproof tape to form a seal. It might work…

This toy turned out better than I expected. We sorted all of my daughter's bath toys and threw away the grown ones. I told her she could pick something new and that's when I discovered this mermaid toy. When it arrived my daughter wanted to open it. The packaging was standard for Barbie. I was able to remove it fairly quickly with scissors. Immediately, my daughter figured out how to make her cock light up.
