This is a great ball head system to complement your monopod or tripod. Below is my list of pros and cons. Pros: The ball head is heavy and looks like it's made of quality material. Definitely not plastic. - The cork material on the quick release plate prevents the camera from scratching and sliding. - No lubricant or oil is required for the operation of the ball section. Works very well. The pull lever works great. Good price. Comes with a screw adapter so you can install a 1/4" or 3/8" monopod

A bit disappointed with this ball head. On the one hand, it's solid and reliable and easily supports the weight of my full-frame DSLR. When I received the head, however, it had a serious blemish: the connection between the ball and the sole of the shoe was wobbly! Why would a company make a well-built mount and then ruin the design with a wobbly joint? Anyone who buys this needs a STABLE, shock-proof photo platform. I am very impressed with this very affordable ball head. I've been using a Manfrotto pistol grip ball head with my Canon 40D since 2008. I recently bought a Fuji X-T1, a much smaller and lighter camera body and system. Manfrotto head tension is difficult to adjust. With this compact Barska ball head I use a Neewer 4-way macro focus guide with a Fuji X-T1, a vintage Nikkor lens on a Fotodiox adapter and an extension tube!
