Not universal. Screw the lid on a small one, leave the old one.

There does not seem to be a universal size for this installation extension pole. The rod length was good, 6" and it was thicker than my old one, that's good, the ball was the same size as the old one (9/16") BUT the plastic nut was 7/8" ID and my pipe end was 1 inch OD. Luckily I was able to use the old nut and everything worked. So make sure you get the right size for you and save your old plastic nut that you may need. Awarded three stars for DATA lock.

It worked partially

My old retractable pivot bar was rusty and broke in the down position. After ordering another Danco I decided I needed this one due to the smaller size of the ball. This one worked with a smaller ball, but it didn't come with a small plastic sleeve or hinge holding the ball. I had to reuse an already installed one. I also had to reuse the plastic screw that secures the ball to the drain because the one that came with it was too small for my application. Although there were no leaks when theโ€ฆ

Not Universal: Faucet Balls

If you have a Danco 86783 drain fitting this should work. But if your bearing assembly is identical to mine, it doesn't have a name, so nobody knows what make or model it is. This is not a universal item. The rod is 0.197 inch (nominally 3/16 inch) in diameter, 6.5 inch in length, and has a 0.600 inch ball diameter. The ball is 4.5 inches from the end of the rod. The part I needed was .216" in diameter. Rod (nominally 7/32) and a .720 diameter ball. If you're not sure what you need, the Dancoโ€ฆ

Complicated but inexpensive repair part

Minerals in our hard water were causing severe corrosion of the entire sink drain, so we needed this replacement part to make the pop up drain pop again. I wasn't sure about the brand of the faucet so I gave it a go with this Danco ball stud which looked very similar to the old part. We finally got it working on our gutter, but I can't say it was easy. It takes a lot of effort to position the pole correctly so that the drain rises enough but then also closes completely when it goes down! Weโ€ฆ

Not compatible with 2006 Pfister faucets

Not compatible with my vintage 2006 Pfister Treviso bath faucet. The bullet was smaller and the threaded cap would not unscrew. I tried using this new rod with the old cap but because the ball was smaller it was loose and I could see it was leaking. Like others, I was hoping to find an OEM part and avoid the generic replacement with the plastic tips sold in big stores. It is surprising that there is no standardization of sizes, even within the same brand. I ended up using the plumber's trick of
