40124 Bayou Classic - 24-Quart Aluminum Stockpot with Steam and Boil Basket - Versatile All Purpose Review

My fault is that I was cheap and bought that and not the stainless steel part. Halfway through boiling two gallons of water on an electric stove with a glass lid, the pot was bobbing so violently I was afraid it would jump off the stove. I didn't come back because it's cumbersome and as I said it's my own fault for buying aluminum. Went straight to the dumpster.

Although it is stated that it can be used to steam food, the basket is located directly at the bottom of the pot. Suitable for braising or boiling, but not for steaming. Since that's what I bought it for, I have to give low stars. Also, be very careful when using it on an open flame. The photos show they use it that way, but it must have been too hot for us, the floor melted instantly.

I would buy something else if I knew the bottom of the pot was "domed" and not flat. This is not a defect, but a design feature. I'll have to customize the pot to suit my needs, but if you're using the pot outdoors as intended, on a propane lamp or whatever, this shouldn't be a problem. Due to a growing family I need a bigger pot to cook gumbo and soup in. I made a purchase that I wanted to cancel because my stove has a glass top and I need a flat bottomed saucepan.
