The Diesel Exhaust Fluid Heater, commonly called the "DEF Heater", is located in the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid / Urea) tank and actually contains the pickup tube for the reductant pump module, an electric heating element, a temperature sensor, a pressure sensor, and an electrode-type level sensor. It enables the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to function at low temperatures. The reductant tank heater keeps the DEF or reductant warm when temperatures are below freezing. The reductant, which is a reducing agent, helps reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) within the diesel exhaust after treatment system. This DEF reservoir heater kit features a redesigned housing to insure it lasts longer than the factory part and includes all the necessary gaskets, o-rings and bolts for a complete trouble-free replacement.

DEF Reservoir Heater: Replacement Parts

Perfect for my 2013 F-350 SD. I watched a few videos beforehand. Installation made much easier. The product was cheaper than others

Pros
  • This DEF Reservoir Heater Kit has a redesigned body to ensure it will last longer than the factory part and includes all the necessary gaskets, o-rings and screws for a hassle free replacement.
Cons
  • Not sure

Works as expected, good for spares

Removing the DEF tank was a hassle, but once the tank was removed the heater was easy to install. The price was really good. Much cheaper than OEM. The OEM heater only lasted 4 years and 70,000 miles in the Texas heat.

Pros
  • Reagent tank heater maintains DEF or reagent temperature at sub-zero temperatures. The reductant, which is a reductant, helps reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the diesel aftertreatment system.
Cons
  • High Price

No more check engine light!

Installation was relatively easy using YouTube videos. Don't forget the rubber washers from the accessory kit. It took me about 2 hours to uninstall the old one and install the new one. Having a tank with full armor definitely made it a bit more difficult, but still doable. It was installed within a few weeks and the temperature dropped to around 20 degrees Fahrenheit. So far there are no problems. Apparently well done.

Pros
  • The Diesel Exhaust Fluid Heater, commonly referred to as the "DEF Heater", is located in the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid/Urea) tank and actually contains the suction tube for the reagent pump module, the electrical heating element, the temperature sensor, and the pressure sensor and electrode level sensor. This allows the SCR system (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to be operated at low temperatures.
Cons
  • No instructions

Now the truck is happy!

This DEF heater fixed an issue I had with my 2015 Ford F250. When replacing this part I would recommend 2 things. First, there is help, an extra pair of hands is always a good thing. Second DANGEROUSLY HAZARDOUS DEF tank after removing it from under the truck. An empty tank is much easier to put back in. DEF fluid weighs at least 8 pounds per gallon. I poured 5.5 gallons out of myself replacing a knot on my truck! It was 40 and a half pounds and I didn't have to hold it in place! Much luck! God

Pros
  • Fits: 2011-2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty 6.7L; 2011-2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty 6.7L; 2011-2016 Ford F-450 Super Duty 6.7L; 2011-2016 Ford F-550 Super Duty 6.7L
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
