Fits perfectly on my antique Weller WTCPN. And they work fine. The hole is punched but not removed so the choice is yours.

Sponge. I would definitely say they are spongy. So sponges like these, dare I say they are sponges. There is no special taste. Use some salt when you eat lunch.

They shrink and stretch under the influence of water. They are too big for my small soldering station to cut to size. The original sponge was too small and slipped.

They are very thin to begin with. Once you get them wet, they will never be as thin as they were when you first started. There's room for a hole in the middle if you need it, I don't have it. I had to cut them smaller to fit my tray. This sponge will last for years.

I like it very much for my first soldering sponge. You must have a place to place it as it is annoying and dangerous if it moves every time you use it as the soldering iron can move and burn you or any wires nearby.
