We followed the directions, put it in a card and then in an envelope. When opening the card, the butterfly simply falls to the ground and spins. No flights. We've tried wrapping both ways and inserting them into the card in different positions, it still doesn't work.

I gave them away on my Christmas cards this year and they were a HUGE hit! Both men and women loved her.! In fact, I've had several co-workers tell me that this is the best Christmas card ever! All the butterflies were well made and came in a variety of colors and patterns. I was able to assign personalities to models. I highly recommend these butterflies. My only regret is that I wish I had some reactions to the video.

You can't beat the price for the number of these butterflies you will receive and there is a wide variety of products that you will receive. However, these things don't really fly up or away, but rotate at an angle to the ground. They are still a great surprise to those who open a card or book, only instead of the magical "wow" effect, the recipient is more shocked when they see something spinning towards them.

The butterflies were cute but if you want them to fly you should reconsider your purchase. Also, you will need to buy extra rubber bands because these bands will break after being wound multiple times (4 or 5). Basically, butterfly wings twist and flap rather than fly. If you use them as a surprise in a book, the book should immediately open to the page they are hidden on. If not, they just unwind between pages.
