I'm glad to have a good new like this product.

Finally used up my old one after 20 years of quilting! I'm glad you have a good new thread because this product definitely helps prevent tangling (whether you're using cotton or polyfilament) and makes it easier for the thread to slide through the fabric. I find it useful for any type of hand sewing, but certainly especially hand quilting or appliqué.

Pros
  • Beeswax and holder/holder approx. 1 7/8" in diameter and 1/2" thick
Cons
  • So far so good

Great product for quilters

Just what I need. I'm a quilter and needed beeswax to strengthen my thread. I tried another brand (Dritz) and it was TERRIBLE. It dried out and fell apart on first use. But not this one. It's wet enough to coat the thread but not sticky or messy. I can tell a big difference in the strength of my thread and the ease with which it glides across the fabric. I will be buying more of these in the future, as well as one for each quilt in my family.

Pros
  • Made in Taiwan
Cons
  • Out of style

Beeswax in holder

I like to have it on hand for sewing. The wax helps the needle slide through the material quickly and easily. * Place the thread on top of the waxy thread and cut the thread where the wax has covered the thread to make it easier to thread the needle. * Remove the web portion of the wax holder and use the wax to temporarily fuse the interface to the material. Correct the interface with firmware. There are many other household uses - very handy to have on hand.

Pros
  • Great for other uses: smoothing out sticky threads and windows, lubricating zippers, smoothing the surface of the iron
Cons
  • Something else
