Belkin Lies Power Strips & Surge Protectors

Details matter. I carefully measured everything and then paid a little more for Belkin, thinking it was a well-known brand. No, it's not a 6ft chord, it's 5ft 5in, which is a lie. If I said my driver's license was 6 feet long when I was actually 5 feet 5 inches tall, that would be a crime. Belkin didn't care. In this case I not only lost the money for the accordion but also the disposable adhesive case. (Have to rip it off the floor and take it to a UPS store during Covid-19 for a meager refund

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Slightly torn

This Belkin commercial 6 outlet power strip/surge protector is ok but nothing special. On the plus side, it has a strong power cord, a slim design for tight spaces, and a reasonable price. On the other hand, its sockets are too close together for the adapter plugs commonly used in electronics today. In addition, there are no indicators that can help ensure that everything is working properly. Unfortunately we are in the middle of an ice storm as I write this review with numerous power surgesโ€ฆ

  • good stuff

See how sockets are arranged. You can only use every second.

This splitter works great with 2-prong cables but is totally useless for 3-prong cables. Pay attention to how the sockets are arranged. A two-pronged cable has the cable exit the top of the connector, while a three-pronged cable has the cable attached on one side. Now imagine: There is a socket nearby. Can you plug another cord into the nearest outlet? no It was necessary to arrange the sockets so that they were rotated 90 degrees from the current organization. So it wouldn't matter if you used

Great, but with a caveat

This surge protector has several advantages: it's cheap, the cables come in a variety of lengths, and the power switch is almost impossible to accidentally flip. However, it also has a major downside that prevents me from fully recommending it: There's no way to tell at a glance whether it's on or off, which is an unfortunate omission when most surge protectors have lighted switches and /or have status indicators. This is very annoying in some applications (e.g. I use it as the main switch forโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Minimizes interference for a clean signal
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Immediately removed

Edit: After contacting me in the Belkin Support comments section here on Revain, I contacted them and they sent a replacement. Now they sent me a 6 foot even though I bought a 10 foot. Beyond that, after the original support who was great to work with sent it to tech support, I heard nothing for 3 months until one day I received an RMA delivery notification. It would be nice to get some kind of message. I will use the 6' but I need to use it elsewhere as it is not long enough to replace the old

Pros
  • 6 outlets with surge protection, ideal for office and home use
Cons
  • New competitors appeared

Not bad considering the price

Mainly used as an extension cord, not a surge protector. If you're thinking of getting this as a surge protector for heavy, power-hungry equipment, I'd recommend spending a little more and getting something else. I like the expansion form factor, but it feels like it could be done better. Although it has 6 sockets I can't use all of them as their layout leaves very little space to plug an adapter between two 3 pin adapters. If you have something with a large adapter, such as a MacBook chargerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Flat design saves space

  • Not sure
