Bestine Rubber Cement Thinner is the only chemical I purchase everything else is all non-toxic. But this is the only product that will do the job of removing stickers and if you need to thin out you're drying out rubber cement. Goo Gone will stain is only good for nonporous surfaces. Been using Bestine for years. Hard to find, especially in a 32 ounce size. Can't find it in any stores anymore, especially can't find it in Art Supply Stores 🎨 because they don't exist anymore unfortunately…

Pros
  • Got it ok and does thin cement but you need a lot of it
Cons
  • The solvent can cause serious skin irritations and allergic reactions

Saves money. No more dried out or too thick rubber cement!

Add a little when your rubber cement starts getting too thick, and it's now like new.Winds up saving me money as I don't go through as much rubber cement. As we all know, once you open a bottle or can, it starts drying out.The thinner brings it back to like new consistency and you don't have to throw away any.

Pros
  • Try to remove old yellow tape
Cons
  • The solvent can damage electronic devices and their components

Better than Goo Gone

I use this product to remove stickers from book dustjackets. I had previously been using GooGone, but that sometimes left a stain. This is the superior product for what I use it for.

Pros
  • So happy to locate this!
Cons
  • The solvent can cause eye irritation and damage if it gets into the eyes

A little unreliable, don't buy on Walmart

Over the years I've found Bestine is a but unreliable in quality. Sometimes you'll get nice, clean solvent that leaves no residue, other times the cans will come with a small amount of white, clumpy, powdery substance in the bottom of the can and the solvent will leave a little white residue on evaporation. Walmart has also snuck a not insignificant markup into their Bestine price over the years and it's now way cheaper to buy directly from Blick Art Materials.

Pros
  • THINS RUBBER CEMENT – Bestine Solvent is ideal for thinning and reducing rubber cement.  It is a popular choice among commercial and professional artists and architects.
Cons
  • The product can cause mood changes and irritability with prolonged use

Great to free gummies

%This rubber cement remover is also a terrific product for philatelists who wish to remove self-adhesive postage stamps from envelopes and such. Most US stamps made over the last 25-30 years are hard to get off paper without damaging the stamp, but this stuff works wonders. And it's so easy! Just pour a bit of the liquid in a metal container (I use an old cooking pot) for about a minute and the stamp peels right off. And a little bit of talcum or baby powder will help get rid of any sticky…

Pros
  • great product. does an excellent job removing self adhesive stamps from paper backing.two thumbs up!
Cons
  • The product is highly flammable and should be kept away from heat sources and flames

Bestine Is The Best Of The Fast Solvents

I recently had cause to utilize this can of Bestine solvent in blending colors in a picture. It was the first time I had used the product and I was very impressed. The solvent allows the artist to nicely mix colors on high quality artist grade paper. Bestine is very thin and not at all turgid, as are some other solvents like turpentine. Additionally, the evaporative rate is "super fast" and I found that the product was totally evaporated within about 15 seconds. Thus, the product allows

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • The solvent can cause chemical burns if it comes into contact with the skin

Been using this for 30+ years

Graphic designers used to use this solvent to dilute their presentation board adhesive or remove it altogether. It still is the best thing available to remove stickers and stubborn price tags . MUCH better than Goo Gone or other products I have encountered here in the U.S. Glad I can still get this stuff, and love the old-fashioned container

Pros
  • It is easy to use, simply apply with a cloth or pour it directly onto the surface
Cons
  • Bestine Solvent and Thinner can cause damage to some types of camera lenses and filters

I tried all the home remedies like WD-40, hair spray

Works very well at removing stubborn stickers. I tried all the home remedies like WD-40, hair spray, baby oil, etc. I tried the commercially available removers like Goof Off and nothing worked well. The other methods also left behind a residue that then had to be cleaned off and are unusable on paper or cardboard. Some of the glue from the sticker will get dissolved and leave a residue on paper and cardboard. On metal, glass or plastic, that residue can be removed with a second application on a…

Pros
  • Price increase from last time purchased
Cons
  • Bestine Solvent and Thinner can leave behind a sticky residue that's hard to remove

Great for cleaning video games

I am a game collector & reseller and I use this with a cotton swab to remove permanent marker, adhesive residue, and stickers from game cartridges, discs (the art side, obviously I don't use this on the data side), and plastic cases. It is so much better than using alcohol, goo gone, etc. It basically breaks down the adhesives and dries off on its own. For marker, I just keep applying and rubbing until all the marker residue has been picked up by the q-tips. For adhesive residue, the same. For…

Pros
  • USE ON MANY SURFACES – It is acid-free and safe to use on almost any surface, including most plastics.
Cons
  • The solvent can cause heart palpitations and irregular rhythms with prolonged exposure
