I have been using this product for years. I've found that when trying to cover gray, it's better to order one shade lighter than your hair. It is also necessary to wash the hair before use to remove accumulated oil from the hair shaft. I let my hair dry before applying the color. This is a personal choice, it seems to suit the hair shaft better.
