We have a fireplace fan without a switch. You plug it in and keep going. This wears out the line a lot. This little switch is great! The fan stays connected and we can easily turn it on and off. My husband liked it so much that I bought him a second one. We used it for the Christmas tree. There is no light switch and this also solved the problem. Such a simple solution. I wish I felt the need for more of them!

I couldn't connect a two prong cord to it at all and it took a while for the three prong plug to almost force the plug into the unit. After that it works fine. I wanted it to be used primarily for two pole items like lamps so I had to find something else to do it. The switch also glows, which some people might prefer, but I like having fewer distractions around me. For three-wire grounded cables, this should be fine, but not great.

Update (10/20/21): Inspection of the rear found that one of the 3 was no longer working and showed signs of heat distortion on the plastic around the connector. 1 star, not recommended due to fire hazard. Summary: I like these vertical switches, which have the switch on top instead of on the side, for applications where the outlet is on the bottom and a top view is more convenient, e.g. B. the back of a couch that you can look down on see switch.
