Good Quality in Radio Antennas

Added the spacing I needed but still scratchy at times. I like the adhesive strip that comes with the kit and the magnetic base.

gget antenna in the Accessories and Consumables section

Excellent antenna, mounted it on a wicker fence and hooked it up to a scanner and it actually picked up airborne frequencies as well as 800 megahertz frequencies from over twenty miles away.

Pros
  • Compatibility with Radio Shack: PRO-2018 PRO-197 PRO-650 PRO-163 PRO-405 PRO-528 PRO-668 PRO-94 PRO-404 PRO-95 PRO-62 PRO-83 ;
Cons
  • Some difficulties

What do you want for 10 bucks?

Pretty useless in the low frequency range, antenna not big enough. Works pretty well on VHF. I haven't tried UHF yet. Not too good at 800MHz although it wasn't advertised. A 10 foot coaxial cable was not enough to run from the trunk to the front of the car. I would look for something better.

Pros
  • HAM Compatible: Kenwood TK100, TK200, TK210, TK220, TK300, TK310, TK320; Icom: IC-V8, IC-V80, IC-V82, IC-U82, IC-W32; Motorola: HT440, HT90; Maxon: HR, CP500, CP520, 1015; Vertex Standard: 734, 834, HR146, HX300, HX320, HX400, CU32, CP/CS 5015, 0420; Unit: HH979; Wilson: HH152, HH154, HH156, HH462, HH464;

Reasonable Price

This antenna has everything over the standard Rubbente on my SR30C scanner. Works both on the kitchen table and on the roof of my car. It's actually a mobile antenna that uses the vehicle's ground plane. Contrary to some opinions that it is cheaply made, I do not agree. Yes, it's lightweight, but that's how most small car radio antennas are made these days. This also applies to lead cables. Although it claims broadband coverage at 20-1000MHz, I've found that anything below 50MHz has moderate…

Pros
  • Compatible with Whistler Wireless Scanner: WS1040 WS1088 WS1010 WS1080 WS1025 WS1065 TRX1 TRX2;
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

The antenna looks great, promises a lot and delivers little.

The old fashioned telescopic antenna that came with my high quality Uniden Bearcat scanner worked much better than this thing. I really really wanted to like this antenna but unfortunately it's not even worth what little I paid for it. The antenna itself looks decent. A little flimsy and flimsy upon closer inspection. Cable? Wow. let me tell you It's too thin and totally unprotected from anything electrical. The thing looks great, promises a lot and delivers little, but the noise mixes with…
