THIS IS NOT TNC, THIS IS BNC so if you need TNC this isn't for you

I didn't see the antenna being BNC. Some displays don't mention this. However, if you need a TNC antenna, this will not work for you. I had to return it. It may be a meter tall but I haven't even opened it up to try it.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some complications

Telescopic antenna same quality as all others

For 156MHz VHS Hi Band this extension reaches almost 1.2m for 5/8 wave (optimal), 0.96m for 1/2 flute and 0.48 meter for 1/4 flute. There is a small screw on the joint if it loosens. A big improvement over 1/4 wave rubber tugs.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

Excellent antenna for receiving

Excellent antenna for receiving AM radio over UHF but limited to 70cm, 1.25cm and 2m ham radio bands for lower power HF transmission due to length matching range. Nice swivel hinge behind the BNC connector. After tightening the BNC connector on the back of the radio, the antenna can be rotated to a vertical position.

Pros
  • Excellent price

  • No

Nice try. FAIL! best radio antennas

I received two of these and sent them back to use on my old Bearcat police scanner. Took a full refund The design of the nylon pressure ring is very bad in BNC's conscience. it does not support the weight of the fully extended antenna and immediately falls to the left or right of the base. Well intentioned but useless product. Revain should take him off their lists.

  • Very impressive

Bad quality

Quality: Poor and cheap. The antenna doesn't stay upright, it falls down because the screws are loose, and it's cheaply made. ----Performance: I installed on a CB mobile radio, which is not a good start. I was able to pick up a signal from a friend about 1/4 mile away, much clearer than the original antenna. Anything over 1/4 mile forget it unless you are in an open field. ----- Recommendation: Spend a little more and get a better antenna, stronger and more durable. This thing looks like itโ€ฆ

Cheaply made

I don't know what "metal" this antenna is made of, but shortly after I took it out of the box and attached it to the back of my scanner, the outer laminated material began to peel off to detach. This revealed what was underneath the light gray plastic material. I had seen many of these telescoping antennas over the years and had never seen any of these designs before. The antenna will not stand upright when fully extended, it will fall under its own weight. Also, the reception isn't very goodโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Big and bulky

Keeps crashing.

The BNC connector does not have a spring on most BNC connectors to hold it in the locked position. It's just a quarter turn BNC with no spring, no way to adjust antenna position. The length is decent but falls off constantly as there are no adjustment screws on it. It does not stand alone, is very sloppy and cannot be held upright. You have to use the tacks on the wall to keep it upright or it keeps tipping over. This is my backup antenna and it's pretty high maintenance and always fails. Itโ€ฆ
