Spines That Kill Fish

Please do not buy this medium. This can trap debris, causing water surges that will kill your fish. RIP Reginald #1 and Bubbles. If I could I would return it for a refund, but the return period has already passed. And before you ask, yes I tried and tested a few other variables.

You need more than what comes with the tank.

The Biorb ceramic carrier is a must-have for every Biorb owner. The package that comes with your tank will not be enough. Buy another bag of 2lbs or more if you've settled on 8/16g. Remove any pieces smaller than 5mm. I ended up taking a lot. Run the medium under a strainer tap for the most effective cleaning.

Pros
  • Sleek Design
Cons
  • Negative Gift

Only buy if you have a BiOrb and need a replacement

If you're buying a new biOrb tank, you don't need to buy it. Your biOrb should come with a pouch. I hate that you have to have this for your biOrb tank and I don't like the fact that it doesn't come in different colors. I think BiOrb's products are very nice, but they go up in price quickly. Be sure to clean it and remove any pea-sized pieces before placing it in the aquarium.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Required for biOrb.

This is the only type of gravel that should really be used with the biOrb due to the design of the filters. I tried using regular aquarium gravel and all the debris from the fish got stuck in it. Also, small aquarium stones will pass through the biOrb filter and accumulate in the center circle, causing further clogging. This environment allows debris to fall through and be sucked back through the filter.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Frequency

Media is fine

I've had biOrb for ten years now - I'm using my third. I love the shape, the light and the way it looks on my desk. I've always used a ceramic medium, but this latest version seems to require much more frequent water/medium changes. And the medium seems to be filled with bacteria or something else that collects at the bottom. At first I thought I was overfeeding my fish, but I have had three tetras for many years and I have always fed them the same. So, I'm not exactly sure why I'm havingโ€ฆ

This is a great substrate if you know what you are working with. Read the information before you buy a Biobor! The substrate is not suitable for bottom dwellers because it is too large and shrimp and crabs do not get the food they need (and also get stuck). This substrate is excellent for goldfish and large algae-eating snails that cannot get stuck underneath. This is beautiful and works great, but limits the amount of plants and fish you can get. As long as you research, you'll be fine.

  • Great for a small home

Small quantity - many parts unusable

I have had to replace some of the ceramic media in my aquarium as it has probably been 4 years since I got it. It was the best price I could find. This is a small bag that I knew and understood. I have read reviews and other comments about the parts being so small that they cannot be used. This corresponds to the recommendations of the companies (see box in the picture) that manufacture this product. Not sure if they broke in transit or not but they were poorly packaged. I had to throw away the
