Outstanding High Density Backup

As a quick historical note, in the 1970's we needed terabit storage instead of bytes for huge amounts of different data collected in different places in different ways. We had almost an acre of subterranean vaults with electronic, magnetic and mechanical facilities. Now I get 4TB on a plain drive! It's fast, reliable and unbeatable in price. As we expand into all-electronic storage, this device will become indispensable. I've found that we double our storage needs every 3-4 years, so we always…

Randomly locked

I bought 1 of these and accidentally bought the second one, the first 5 minutes of setup everything was fine, I created 1 drive folder to start moving my stuff and then both happen to be 4TB drives lock up and somehow turn into 8MB and I'm stuck on both. I entered the password correctly at least 80+ times, even manually typing and/or copying and pasting the password into the password field, and still got blocked! I've searched all over the internet and even called wdc support and no help! If I…

Feel free to change rating

Drive no longer works after 4 months! Now I can't retrieve files! If there is a way to help someone get them back I would happily change the rating.

Pros
  • High test results for support and durability
Cons
  • Annoying

GARBAGE! Don't waste money!

This is a HUGE waste of money. I bought this item in May and unfortunately only connected it after the return period had expired. The computer did not recognize it when it was first connected. My IT department helped and called WD customer support. My IT department said it was DOA. but WD customer support made me try it one by one. tons of time wasted. I never used the damn thing and it was only a few months old. Terrible customer service. They should just replace it or offer a refund.

Pros
  • Normal price

  • I'm worried
