We bought these because we needed to replace derailleurs and brake cables on a couple of bikes we were reconditioning. We didn't have a good way to cut them, so we took this one. They worked very well in cutting cables to the required length. They did a great job doing what we needed and wanted.

Bought this to cut a bike cable lock. No way. Didn't even remember. However, the cutter itself was somewhat damaged. I assume it's for cutting bike brake cables or hanging pictures. I ended up spending $40 on bolt cutters that cut the bike lock cable like a hot knife through butter.

For my work I need a wire cutter that opens wide to cut the wire. They're good for cutting one wire at a time as they don't open very wide. I had to stop using them and find another pair. They are perceptive and do their job, but they don't work for what I need. Spring loaded is good so you don't have to open them all the time.

I moved into an old house with four old wire boxes outside and wires everywhere. The cable companies involved were all out of business and didn't want to get involved. When I was sure that they didn't work, I was able to chop them off with this tool, I removed the boxes, a cable was still attached to the pole. was removed by the installer for the new company.
