🔥 Borla 40349 Metallic Muffler: Enhanced Performance and Durability Review

After looking at and listening to a dozen different Flowmaster and Magnaflow mufflers I settled on Borla. They add a nice rich sound to my standard ram 1500, 5.7, but they don't bore you to death like my old Magnaflow 40. They also get a nice growl when you jump on them. Too early to know how much better performance and mpg but I'm glad I chose Borla!

This muffler was modified for an 18 Nissan Titan XD 5.6L petrol engine. The store charged $40 to install and it took about 45 minutes. The sound is great on launch and on throttle, but not very loud when the resonators are on. If this had been run on a straight pipe I would have seen very different results. I wear a large pendant most of the time so I didn't want to be too loud and this fits perfectly with what I wanted.

Going from the Flowmaster Super 44 to this is a big change. After reading some of the reviews I thought it was an aggressive tone. It is not. Very quiet. You'll hear a slight hum on startup, but it levels off and gets pretty quiet. I couldn't use the speakerphone with the Flowmaster, no one could hear me, only the muffler. Replaced the 40 Series Flowmaster that was in my truck when I bought it. The 40 series had good tone at lower rpm but made a crappy noise when air was forced through a too small hole above 3,000 rpm. Thanks for that chamber design. I took it to a local shop, cut it up and welded it together with Borla. Even in the same configuration with shifters, it's surprisingly quiet. I just installed this Borla in my 2017 Chevy Silverado v8 at my local muffler shop. Sounds amazing, not loud but more of a growl, if you want a loud 'fight racer' this isn't what you want. The sound is great when I start the truck, it sounds like a V8 which should be a bit louder when you get in. I am totally satisfied with this muffler on my 2016 RAM Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 with 5.7 Hemi engine. I swapped out the muffler for a stock 26-pound muffler because I wanted a more open, natural tone. This silencer significantly improved the movement of the truck. I no longer have to push the truck forward with the gas pedal and I press the brake pedal harder than before to stop.
