Easy to install when replacing another sensor, works well.

I installed it on an early 90's Cummins that fits a 107 year old fishing boat. Installation was nice and easy and it fitted into an existing threaded port using one of the adapters provided. The previous indicator was a cap tube sensor, and that has long been out of service. Because of this I had to find a hot floor to share with the engine block (heavier than you can imagine on a 107 year old wooden fishing boat) but once that was done the installation went great. 1 crimp connector is included

Pros
  • Standard 2" black dial for 2-1/16" bore
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Works well BUT poor electrical connection design

Works fine once installed. BUT I wish I had paid more attention to the electrical connections. On this unit, the electrical connection studs ALSO serve as mounting bracket studs. It has a three hole metal bracket insulated with small black rubber grommets that should hold the sensor firmly to the panel it is mounted in. Trouble is, if those jacks ever poke through that bracket, it could cause a direct short. And this thing, of course, connects to the engine's electrical system to power it. So…

Pros
  • For 12v negative ground systems only
Cons
  • Compatibility

Installed on my boat

My 1979 Viking had two OEM gauges on the handlebars that read 210F when the engines were running at operating temperature, while the old wet bulb gauges in the engine room read 175F. I installed these sensors and the temperature readings now match the correct 175F-180F across the four sensors. I love that 180F is in the middle of the range on the dial as that is my thermostat's target temperature. Great product at a reasonable price. Installation was plug n play, use only the temporary…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • The list will be long.

DEAD OUT OF THE BOX.2nd

Now I understand that we live in a time when only shit is produced. , so far. Fake, I don't know, and it's hard to tell anyway. The reason I'm so pissed is because I bought the mechanical version of this a year ago and just installed it in a project. Guess the needle doesn't even move. Well, it's easy to buy another brand. Oh no. I have a set of these, oil, temp, voltage and fuel so I wanted them to match whatever I have, call me crazy. So I decided to get an electric version of the water temp…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Very expensive
