Don't sharpen pencils.

I bought this to replace my best electric sharpener which worked great until I gave it to my daughter's class and she loved it broke in less time. than a week. I thought it was just not meant for commercial use so I went with the same brand. It doesn't sharpen pencils. There aren't even any chips! He makes noise, but that's all. I hate being wasteful and I hate giving things back. I would leave it even if it was low quality, but it literally makes nothing but noise.

Pros
  • Battery operated for portable or cordless use (requires 4 AA batteries - not included)
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Slightly less efficient than a hungry guinea pig

It would be easier to sharpen pencils with a butter knife. The first pencil I put in my pocket immediately broke into pieces. Not too sharp, completely broken, almost half of the pencil turned into a coarse mulch. After thoroughly cleaning the parts, I tried another pen, this time VERY slowly and carefully. It reached about a half-pointed state before suddenly eating the pen again. On about the tenth try (I'm an artist and I'll be damned if I can't use a basic pencil sharpener) my wife asked me

Pros
  • Safety switch prevents operation if easy-to-clean shavings tray is pulled out
Cons
  • High price

No spiral blade!

We've had this pencil sharpener for a little over a year. I should have known that kind of blade would be worse. In fact, this is a small manual school sharpener for kids, but with a motor. I was saddened when my trusty 20 year old battery powered Bostitch sharpener died. It has worked great every time and I rarely changed batteries (but to be honest I haven't used it that much). I figured this type of blade would be something new (it seemed to be very popular!) so I'd give it a try. It was…

Pros
  • Powerful, trouble-free performance in normal use
Cons
  • Doubtful
