Description of Boyesen WPK-38M Magnesium Supercooler Water Pump Cover and Impeller Kit

Fits: Yamaha WR450F 2003-2014, YZ450F 2003-2009, YFZ450 2004-2009, 2012-2013. By casting a totally new water pump cover, Boyesen was able to maximize the flow through the unit. Boyesen’s design takes advantage of everything from Bernoulli’s Effect to biological studies. Unlike the stocker, Boyesen’s water inlet has an increasing diameter and artfully curved shape. This is a vast improvement over most stock inlets, which decrease in diameter as they near the impeller and have a 90-degree bend at the pump. Patented nautilus style impeller for hydrodynamic efficiency, reducing heat, gaining horsepower and extending engine life. Can reduce engine temperatures by as much as ten degrees.

It works well: Engine Cooling and Air Conditioning

I installed it and it works fine but the interior looked very rough and there was paint in the water hose connector that needed cleaning before reassembly

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Compatibility

Good, but still need to order a gasket or two

Fit and finish is good. Fairly easy installation, even the ordered seals and bearings did not take much time. Please note NO o-rings or gaskets are included.

Pros
  • Engine Cooling and Climate Control
Cons
  • Blank

It really works - my WR450F cools down noticeably on long slow/technical rides. Two minutes later in the garage while idling, measured a difference of 6 degrees between the stock water pump and the Boyesen. It doesn't sound like much, but the cooling is much more efficient at higher RPMs and with little airflow through the radiators.

Pros
  • Water Pumps
Cons
  • A few small things
