I recently tagged about 350 wires with permanent ferrules. This saved me from removing the backing from a large number of labels and wrapping them around the wire. It's not a huge time saver - unless you're producing marked wires at a workbench with the right equipment to aid in speed. The main advantage after they don't need to be cleaned is how uniform and special they are. I mostly did MTW 18ga with fairly thick insulation and the fit was good.
