Bought from Massdrop 2 years ago. The sound quality was fine. I gave them to the GF, she used them for 1.5 years. Left speaker died 22 months after purchase, requested a refund. get approval. I had to send it back and a replacement was sent. I didn't get it, so I decided to write a review. In general there are no cons. case is fine. The sound is ok. Assembly is fine. The exchange was not difficult, but long. I wouldn't say they're $90, but around $40 they're good.

Tldr Pros - really good construction and fits my ears well, good carrying case. Cons - terrible dirty sound. They're not even worth the $30 I paid at the Massdrop. They have a very muddy, distorted sound, overwhelming bass (not in a good way) and just don't cost more than $10. I have Sony headphones that I paid $20 for and they sound much better. Save your money, buy something else. I can only say that they fit really well and are part of it

I have a few of these from Massdrop. you suck I suck seriously. Listen for 30 seconds and they end up in the trash. Dark as the night I'm hearing very weak playback above 10k, bloated low end, and to top it off the shit it's not even balanced between left and right. The left driver has 5dB or more in bass and mids than the right driver. I get the same results on multiple devices. If this is a Brainwaves performance, I'll be very disappointed. I hate this. I don't even want to ask for repairs…

I really like them they sound great overall they are definitely warmer which I prefer as they are much more relaxing to my ears. I also feel like you can feel the bass in songs with less bass and it's a really good balance. Bass-heavy songs definitely feel like super bass, which only gets better if you like deep bass. Speaking further about the bass, the only problem some might have is that it seems softer and dirtier than clean and punchy, it just depends on how you prefer it. I like it either
