So good I bought 20 of these

I love this brand and kit for making moonshine. The kit contains everything you need to start making homemade beer. It even comes with bottle caps. Be sure to follow the directions each time as every recipe is different.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • There are nuances

First of many kits

Everything you need to make a great lager. I just tasted a beer that was put in a post-fermenter. After two weeks it should be very clean and smooth. Clear game plan, plenty of space for notes for future games.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Good but not great

Consider swapping out the yeast

Just finished brewing this and I love the results. The only thing I did differently was toss out the yeast that was included and go with some White Labs Kolsch Kolsch Liquid Yeast. Reviews of the dry yeast included in the kit suggest that it may have some flavor variations. I am very happy with my results.

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Lost the whole batch

I don't know what the problem is. I did my American Light a few months ago and it came out great. This one has never been fermented and I knew it as soon as I opened the first lid. As if the yeast had not done its job. Everything must be dropped. Get ready for the Oktoberfest batch I'm doing this weekend, so I hope it goes well.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Not fashionable

Not even remotely the same

As you can see in the attached photo the composition is completely different from the same set a year ago. Different LME, different hops, different yeast. They do NOT make the same beer AT ALL. I sent this kit back and bought the required ingredients piece by piece at my local homebrew store for only $5. I don't know what they were thinking.

Pros
  • Excellent general characteristics
Cons
  • Almost everything is present

Good Value: Home Brewing Starter Kits

It's a good ale, but it's not really a Kolsch beer. Essentially an English yeast strain, Nottingham will make a good drink, just brew it on the cooler side (below 70F) so there are no odd flavors. This kit is worth buying for less than $30. costs more to buy ingredients online or at a brewery store. You can add 1/4 cup table/brown sugar or 1/2 cup corn sugar if you want to increase the alcohol content without changing the flavor.

Light refreshing beer!

This Kölsch has become good. This is the second beer I have brewed and it is a flavorful, refreshing beer with a light hoppy note and very little bitterness. I think he met my expectations. The instructions were very easy to follow. The only confusion is that they recommend alternative yeast - I used the yeast that came with it. I think liquid yeast would result in a clearer drink, but I'm not softening the haze one bit. I will order this set again.

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons

Tasty beer. on Brewing

This is a very easy to drink, tasty beer. I took off a star because mine looked honey-colored and cloudy, not straw-colored and transparent like Kolsch should be. It may be necessary to purchase liquid Kolsch yeast separately and use a wort chiller instead of an ice bath for faster cooling. I used German dry brewer's yeast and a slightly higher fermentation temperature (70-75) and the beer came out very fresh and clean with a slightly lemony taste. Take liquid yeast, use a wort chiller and find

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Something to add
