Very impressed with the Brinno TLC200 PRO. I'm glad I gave Brynno a chance!

Very impressed, I bought one of these time lapse cameras for my construction project and had never used a Brinno camera before so didn't know what to expect. I received the blocks very quickly. When I received the cameras I had no idea how to operate the camera so reading the manual was a bit helpful but I thought I learned more by playing around with the settings and exploring the camera. I wanted to share my camera knowledge to help other new buyers. There are only 3 buttons on the camera…

Mediocre image quality, decent battery life, MJPEG output and maybe no better than security cameras.

This is a well-integrated system that consumes very little battery power, but the image quality is on par with a relatively cheap webcam. It doesn't help that the only supported mode is to encode each frame into a video file instead of being able to save a JPG or even some kind of RAW. One or the other will certainly be happy if the camera automatically creates video files. I myself would have preferred discrete frames. Does as advertised and the quality is "good enough " for most things

Only 4 stars at first because it's only 720 HD not 1080, also the focusing method isn't very good. While it's unfair to take down a star, if I knowingly only got it with the 720, I'll knock it down a bit because the lens' clarity isn't anywhere near perfect. If you scale the image down to 50%, it looks almost perfect. That means if he could only shoot higher with this lens, zooming down to 720 could compete with DSLRs. I really want more resolution. I could even pay over $400-$500 for such a 4K

Not so good. Works about 1/3 of the time

Update: May 31, 2014 I have been using this camera as a security camera and pet surveillance camera for a few months now. I still have endless problems playing .avi files. camera does. VLC player and Brinno files seem to work occasionally, more often not. It freezes on the first frame while the player counts down the seconds. I've tried different players for Apple computers, most of them don't even play the files. I convert them and it works sometimes, but it's another step, it's unreliable and
