The orange plastic cover must be removed before installing a new cartridge. To do this, move the green lever. Unfortunately my lever broke and I couldn't remove the orange cap from the cartridge. What to do? Luckily I still have the orange cap with the green grip from my used cartridge. Swapped the new handle for the old one and it worked! I have never written a bad review on Revain but either these Brother cartridges are defective or the Brother printer is defective. I'm pretty sure it's ink. We bought a printer and it worked fine until the ink cartridges that came with it ran out. We then bought this branded ink replacement product and even after two 'clean' cycles for the quality the result - in the case of both cartridges in this pack - was terrible and unacceptable to anyone. The two cartridges themselves are in their original packaging and appear to be genuine Brother cartridges but I am not sure. One star was given because the product was misrepresented and I cannot determine the expiration date. I'm considering a return because if I had known they weren't in the retail box I wouldn't have bought them.
