I highly recommend it

I've been using this cable for a while now and haven't had any problems with it. I can recommend it unreservedly. This is a quality cable that works as advertised. I've used it with Windows 10 and MAC OS Sierra with no problems.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Protection

Works great and is a must have accessory for BTECH 25x2

After much frustration with $8 cables from the internet bought this. This worked and got the job done in about 5 minutes as advertised. Used it to clone my HT channels into my BTECH UV25x2 to customize the display, message and static message (on my call). I don't normally write reviews without a tip but it worked for me and I wish other radio amateurs knew that it costs $20 to tune the radio the way you like it and get it on the air. All worth $20.73 from KC9MGX

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Worked great. Just plug and play

Plug and play with my UV-25X2 with CHIRP. There are no driver issues at all. Connected, found my radio station in the CHIRP menu and downloaded basic information from the radio, entered a set of 120 frequencies and loaded it back into the radio. The whole process took no more than 5 minutes.

Pros
  • Have fun
Cons
  • Empty

Perfectly matches the BTECH UV-50X2 mobile radio

I have a lot of experience programming various models of Baofeng PDAs and some other brands, especially Chirp. I like to haggle as much as anyone, but do yourself a favor and pass on cheap programming cables and get this one. FTDI is the only one you can use if you really don't like much frustration.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

This one was perfect and no problems at all

This worked great with my UV-25X4. When I got the UV-25X4 I really thought the same cable would be compatible with older radios. It's not obvious. I went ahead and manually programmed some repeaters and simplex frequencies. (It seems that programming a new radio is a bit easier, but I also have, I believe, 6 of several variants of other Baofeng and BTECH radios. But it didn't take me long to order a cable to match. It (the new cable) Windows 10 was automatically recognized without having to…

Really easy to program

I'm not an experienced Chirp software user but I found it easy to follow the instructions that came with the BTech 25X2 programming cable and radio. I have a new truck that I didn't want to modify, so I bought a heavy duty Lidomount cup holder. When ordering a Lido mount you will be asked to indicate which radio you would like to mount on your product. I said Kenwood D710 (I actually have one) and the holes in the Lido to D710 adapter matched the BTech radio perfectly. good deal. My first…

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Overpriced data cable

No cable yet, but I have 5 other radios and matching cables. Despite being advertised as an FTDI cable, it is overpriced. A few years ago I switched 2 other cables to FTDI to avoid downloading separate drivers. The board can be bought on Aliexpress with shipping for $2. If you're comfortable, you can take a look at this if you already have an old cable. I'm guessing it cost the manufacturer about a dollar to make this $20 item.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • So so

Pros
  • Cables and accessories
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Congratulations to BTECH for purchasing the cable with FTDI chip. My others were from a different range, they had bad experiences with those in the early days of Baofeng UV-5, but this one works on Windows/Mac/Linux - if it doesn't work for you - you either have a bad cable , you have the wrong radio, or something is wrong with your computer setup. Mine worked as expected right out of the box, using the CHIRP software to first load/save the original image from our new UV-25x4 and then save it…

Make sure you order the correct cable for your transceiver.

I now have 2 USB cables for PC04 FTDI programming and that's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. I can't remember if I bought the first one from Revain or where. He has 5 starts. The website I ordered the cable from pointed me to BTECH as the right programming cable, so I didn't hesitate to order it. When it arrived I connected it to my Linux PC using the recommended CHIRP programming software from chirp.danplanet.com and then to a BF-F8HF programmable transceiver. The device is not recognized.

Pros
  • USB cable
Cons
  • boring packaging
