Fast and Efficient Buslink Slim External USB 2.0 Double-Layer DVD Burner - D-DW82-U2 Review

After trying this optical drive, I am extremely disappointed. It is slow and unreliable, often not recognizing discs that are inserted. The only positive thing about it is that it is slim, making it easy to transport. Overall, I would not recommend this product to anyone. Save your money and invest in a better optical drive for your computer needs.

Bought for my tablet PC. It worked fine for about two weeks, then suddenly there were problems accessing any disks. It was difficult to get an RMA from Buslink, they had a replacement within a week. This one worked fine for about two months, then it started doing the same thing as the first one. I've thrown it at a Sony model, which has worked without problems so far.

I use this drive every day at work. We regularly burn all kinds of virtual machine disks. Drivers and timing can be issues. The internal recorders on my PCs work in some virtual machines and not in others. They often fail in the middle of a burn. When I use this little guy it works every time. The USB plug-n-play always loads the drivers I need and never fails in the middle. It works successfully on USB1.1 and 2.0 ports and does not need any power supply other than 5V from USB cable! Wonderful!
