The perfect replacement!

This replaces a ten year old 250,000 mile DeadBolt. The toggle switch on the previous unit was clogged with sand and would no longer let the key into the lock. This new one is perfect! I also like the shorter stem on the new one, fits snugly on 2017 OEM F-150 receiver, minimal sag, perfect!

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Useless features

Stainless steel is best

Good build quality, perfect fit. I'm not sure how the carvings in the castle will hold up over time. Essentially, the key works like a wrench to unscrew the head of the lock cylinder, so any extra force applied to unlock the glued mechanism can cause the key to warp. But maybe that's not a problem. Otherwise, it's a good choice for a quality receiver. Definitely better than plated steel of any kind.

Hitch could be better

Overall this is an average hitch pin - maybe a little below average. The keys sit sloppy in the lock, when turned they can go beyond locking and unlocking and the keys won't come out of the lock until you turn them in the opposite direction while pulling the lock - awkward when the pin is in the hitch plugged . They're stainless steel, which is good if you live on the coast. They look well made. I was just expecting them to be well made, but they aren't as well made as they could be. Degree…

High quality receiver

This is a very high quality receiver lock. I went through three other castles before finding this one: two masters and Yakima. One master is very badly rusted but still works for the most part. However, I hated the key. I always had to fight him to unlock him. The Second Master was garbage of the highest order. There were plastic parts at the end of the lock. PLASTIC! It met its demise as it literally fell apart in my hands. The Yakima is ok, but it doesn't fit because it has a very small…

Made in the USA and looks very high quality

I looked everywhere and didn't trust some of the half price locks - they had too much Chinese metal in them. I really liked the locking mechanism in some of the high end foreign locks as they were made of brass which theoretically eliminates a big problem. (How many of you have had to hammer in an old lock, apply WD40, or saw it off?) This one is made of high-quality stainless steel, but it's hard to tell how good the lock's internal workings are, what it's made of, and how it will withstand…

Error getting phone support. I had to replace.

Arriving in late July or early August I was initially impressed with what I thought was quality work. I liked the reversible key and locking screw which I thought would protect against theft. I'm having trouble using the lock after a few months and checked the manufacturer's website for a support phone number, but they only want you to use their website to fill out a support request. I finally found the phone number on their warranty page. It was 888-357-5625 but when I called it was an…
