Description of 🖨️ C2G USB to Parallel Printer Cable with DB25 Adapter - Connect Printers to Computer USB Ports - 6ft Cable with Durable Molded Connectors - Model 16899

Connect your Parallel, IEEE-1284, printer to a USB port on your PC or hub. Keeps the parallel port on a PC free by using USB instead. Connect multiple printers using USB instead of parallel. Eliminates the need for a switchbox by using USB ports. Package Contents: One adapter cable, User manual. Note: This adapter is designed for use with a standard Parallel printer and is not designed to support multi-function printers or other parallel devices. This adapter uses the USB Printing Support function of the operating system and is not designed to create a LPT port.

ATTENTION TO THE BUYER! in computer components

Nothing to indicate that this is PRINTER ONLY. It fools you by saying things like "16899 USB DB25 IEEE-1284 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable" and "The device is completely transparent to the user and is ideal for true two-way communication." This adapter auto-negotiates hardware detection for a faster protocol. installation and is fully plug and play compatible. So you are tricked into thinking that you can convert devices like Syquest SparQ drives into non-printers. I received this item today…

Works with iMac and HP Laserjet 4L

I recently switched from PC to iMac. The transition wasn't as smooth as I had hoped. It took me a while to get used to the iMac, and while I really like it for the most part, I still find my iMac freezes and crashes almost as often as my PC - mostly when I have 4-5 programs open and the internet goes at the same time. A little disappointing. However, I like the iMac in general. And there's one thing I love about the iMac. You can plug almost anything into it, and in my experience the computer…

Parallel port cables are unbalanced - the end that connects to the printer is different from the end that connects to the computer. I assumed the parallel port end of this cable would be connected directly to the printer's parallel port, but that's not the case. In my case this turned out to be solvable as I still had the old parallel port cable I used to connect this printer to the old computer. I could leave the old parallel cable connected to the printer and then plug the C2G cable into the…

Works in iMac with HP LaserJet 4

Update 23 August 2012: When OSX 10.7 came out the cable stopped working with my LaserJet and I ended up having to donate the printer and cable to someone who uses Windows. I would no longer recommend using it on a newer OSX system. First Review: My computer recently died and I replaced it with a new iMac running Mac OSX 10.5. I love my LaserJet 4 because it's so reliable and cheap to run that I didn't want to rely solely on my inkjet printer. I chose this cable because it had good reviews. I…
