Description of ๐Ÿ”Œ Cable Matters Triple 4K DisplayPort Splitter: Mini DP Hub for Windows with 2X 8K DP 1.4 & 1X 4K HDMI - NOT for macOS

Versatile Mini DisplayPort splitter comes with a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter and features two DisplayPort and one HDMI port for up to 3 monitor setup. Mini Display Hub offers increased bandwidth for more pixels and more colors. Supports HDR (High Dynamic Range), a feature not available on DisplayPort 1.2 (requires HDR support from graphics card and display). Mini Display Port hub features a low power consumption design that allows it to be bus powered on most systems. The Mini DisplayPort 1.4 splitter contains an optional USB-C power port for use with computers with a low power output Mini DisplayPort, such as the Microsoft Surface Pro. Plug in the included USB power cable if there is disconnecting / flickering / blinking issue. Mini DisplayPort 1.4 hub contains a built-in magnet allowing it to be conveniently mounted to any metal computer case. Flexible 12 inch cable tail on the MST hub avoids strain on the computerโ€™s Mini DisplayPort. 3 Port uni-directional Mini DP hub is an indispensable companion for the latest displays and Windows computers equipped with DisplayPort 1.4 support from AMD Radeon RX and Nvidia RTX graphics cards.

Works properly with DisplayPort 1.2 base device

I used this to connect an HDMI monitor and a DisplayPort monitor to my primitive company laptop which only supports DisplayPort 1.2. It worked for that purpose so I'm happy with it and the video quality seems good.

Pros
  • The Mini DisplayPort Hub features a low-power design that allows for bus-powered delivery in most systems. The Mini DisplayPort 1.4 splitter includes an additional USB-C power connector for use with computers with a low-power Mini DisplayPort output, such as B. the Microsoft Surface Pro. Connect the included USB power cable if you experience disconnecting/flickering/flickering issue.
Cons
  • Appearance

Works great so far

I got this to simplify wiring a digital pinball cabinet to an external PC. I'm currently only using two displays with it, but I've tried all three ports and they work fine. I've used both DP to HDMI cables and adapters and both have worked. This is with a GTS 1650 Super and I'm using USB to give it extra power, although I'm not sure if that's necessary.

Pros
  • The 3-port unidirectional mini DP hub is an essential companion for the latest displays and Windows computers with DisplayPort 1.4 support from AMD Radeon RX and Nvidia RTX graphics cards.
Cons
  • Annoying

Added two monitors next to the laptop

This splitter allowed me to use my laptop's Mini DisplayPort to power two external monitors I now have a laptop screen in front of me and an external monitor on either side so I have 3 screens.I'm using Windows 10 and the display is set to "Extend" which puts different programs/applications/windows on each screen My mouse can move from screen to screen.

Pros
  • The Mini DisplayPort 1.4 Hub has a built-in magnet that allows you to conveniently attach it to any metal computer case. The 12" flexible cable lug on the MST hub avoids stressing your computer's Mini DisplayPort connector.
Cons
  • Can I add something?

Slightly disappointed

I use it to connect two monitors to my PC. The problem I'm having is that every time my computer goes to sleep, the monitors won't work again until I unplug the cables attached. I don't know why, but it's impractical to disconnect and reconnect the cables every time you turn on the computer.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
