This is the only dock that works properly with the Surface Book 2

Since Microsoft hasn't integrated Thunderbolt 3 into the Surface Book 2, we're limited to using regular USB-C docks. The problem is that the vast majority of options on the market only provide 60W via USB Power Delivery. With discrete graphics models, this is not enough to charge the laptop properly under load. Another problem is that most USB-C docks limit you to a specific bandwidth allocation. Or you get GbE Ethernet, USB 3.1 ports and a display with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 x…

Works good for Windows, doesn't work for Mac (for me)

Hi I bought this hoping my laptop would have the clean look it needs. One cable goes to the laptop to use for my peripherals and display. I hate watching cables and this is a must for me. It's a bonus if I can also dock my work laptop (16" MacBook Pro). The MacBook Pro doesn't work in any way for display, although it connects all my peripherals. My personal laptop is a Razer Blade 14 (2021) and that works great for this I have all four usb ports in use, one is connected to a usb hub in my…

Some Pixelbook loading bugs

I'm reviewing the product for the following purchase purposes: - Essential: Android and Chromebook charging, USB peripherals (stereo audio) - Nice to have: Ethernet, SD card Work with critical functions as the Pixelbook does not always charge. If the Pixelbook is running when I plug in the hub, it charges. When he sleeps he doesn't charge. Another hub that always charges my Pixelbook whether it's asleep or awake when it's plugged in, as does the Pixelbook's built-in charger (obviously). Didn't…

Amazing laptop docking station accessory

Wow. I am very excited about this docking station. First of all, it is very well made and has a pleasant weight in combination with a high-quality aluminum housing. Even the included stand (which you can use or not) is very well made and a good weight (it won't tip over). The port layout on the dock is well thought out, on one side are the things you would normally plug in and leave (e.g. DisplayPort, Ethernet, USB-C connection to a laptop, power, multiple USB ports ) and on the other side…

Pros
  • vintage
Cons
  • big and bulky

This dock is the only one I've been sure of what I'm getting and can choose between different configurations with the mode switch. The USB-C/Thunderbolt world is opaque today, and the only way to know what you're getting is with lots of reading and guessing. I'll share what I've learned about USB-C here to explain why I chose this docking station. Your USB-C cable contains 4 configurable pairs of wires. When the cable is connected, both parties agree on how to set up these pairs. Any of these…
