Excellent Cables for Highpoint 3720

These cables work great when used with Highpoint 3720 and 8WD Red drives. If there is a way to improve it, it would be to make each end of the cable a little longer, or route it a little further back. From the 1st to the 4th cable it was very crowded.

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • Confused

What I Needed in Computers & Accessories

I wanted to fit SATA drives in a 2.5" drive cage in a hardware radial card on a Supermicro server. I was able to use this cable to go from a port expander on the backplane to a SATA enclosure and create a raid-0 for the OS partition. The Intel software raid was causing problems (crashes).

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Ordered 3 and 1 was bad

Of course I just started building after closing the return window. I ordered 3 sets in total. 1 was installed and worked fine for several months before a new build was started with two other cables and one of them failed. Wanted plenty of time to track it down to the cable. It happens I think, but it's a shame I can't get it back anymore.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Have doubts

Quality cable suitable for computer accessories and peripherals

Works as advertised. The cables look premium and are flexible enough to be routed through the cable holders inside the server - as is standard when buying such cables; Before you buy, make sure you're buying the right type and check the connector types on each end. My usage was to connect an internal RAID card to 4 SATA hard drives with a mini SAS connector.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable shorter than others

About 6 months ago I bought 2 of these cables. Worked as expected until recently. The P4 cable on one of them suddenly stopped working and started making mistakes. I am contacting the seller to get a replacement. Will be updated later if/when replaced or not. Update 3/5/21: I contacted the seller and he responded fairly quickly and sent me a new one which still works as expected. Upgrade to 5 stars.

Pros
  • Nice look
Cons
  • Some flaws

Slim, flexible but a bit fragile

I've bought a lot of CableCreation cables over the last year. I was very happy with the cables I used with my old SAS2 card/expander so it made more sense to buy more when I was upgrading to a SAS3 card (9260-8i to 9361-8i). As mentioned, the SFF-8643 connector doesn't seem to fit very well in the expander. This caused the cables to unexpectedly detach from me, resulting in a spam of ASC errors, which initially misled me into thinking it was a hardware or cable failure. Once I snap them in…

Pros
  • This Mini-SAS (SFF-8643) to 4x SATA Cable, SFF-8643 is a host that connects to a motherboard or RAID controller with Mini-SAS connectors . Target is 4x7pin SATA, connect to hard drives via SATA port
Cons
  • Not sure
