Not stainless steel

I've had this knife set for a little over a week and it's starting to rust. Very dissatisfied with the quality of this set. I have had a set of JA Henckels for several years and not once have they rusted. From now on I will stay with Henckels.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Shit. do not buy at Messersets

These knives are complete scrap. I've had them for about 20 days now and despite light home use in the kitchen and hand washing they get terribly dirty and dirty. I have attached photos of the chef's knife. I figured I was getting good quality at that price, at least better than the $40 set they replaced. So disappointed.

Won't last. Buyer Warning.

I was thrilled and impressed when I first bought these knives. Fast forward A year later the chef's knife has been eaten away and the steak knives are rusty. I have to keep sharpening them. The knife sharpener is a joke. This Chinese crap is made of low-quality materials. The chef's knife should not stick and crack! I had to throw it away. So disappointed.

I have to say I'm disappointed with this set of knives

I have to say I'm disappointed with this set of knives. They seem like good knives and I like the feeling of having them in my hand, but all the steak knives have started to rust. I don't use them very often, so the fact that there is something wrong with them is totally unacceptable in my eyes. We'll be in touch with Calfalon to find out what they have to offer.

The best knife set!

I had a set of Walmart Kitchen Aid manure knives that 3 months after I received them were struggling to cut butter I finally allowed myself to order quality. OMG I had to cut up a chicken for dinner. Didn't have to press hard, cut the meat cleanly and easily. Larger knives have a self-sharpening stone when you put them back in the holding area that sharpens the knife when you put it back in! I love these knives, quality product! Japan

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Out of style

Do not buy this item

This knife set looked good online. The claim to self-sharpening was great. When the knives arrived they were not pre-sharpened. When I buy a set of knives, I expect them to be perfectly sharp right away. Even when using sharpeners built into the shaft, these knives are not sharp. Auto-sharpening is a trick, not a feature. I was rather disappointed because I bought it as a Christmas present for my fiancee. A year later I use these knives, but I have to sharpen them with a knife and a steel…

Superb knives in knife sets

These knives arrived very sharp. I've been using these knives every day since I got them and they are as sharp as when they arrived. I've seen a lot of reviews that said "These knives are rubbish" and "Don't buy". Well, if you don't know how to properly care for these knives, you don't need them. Easy care for the knives.1. Wash hands with warm water and dish soap after each use. "Don't leave a dirty knife in the sink in time"2. Do not immerse in dishwater, use a warm soapy cloth.3. Hand dry…

Absolutely brilliant

As a college student, I used to live a cheap life. $25 Costco knife sets can be as good as the real thing, right? I lived in my world of alternative facts with my head in the sand like an ostrich avoiding eye contact with my lover. I kept believing that my knives were fine, that it was the potatoes' fault, that my knife wasn't cutting anything. Heck, organic potatoes are obviously harder to cut than regular potatoes due to their cell-free lifestyle. Well, my head finally got out of the sand…

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Very expensive

BUYERS: Please know what you are buying and what you are NOT buying. You are NOT buying an impenetrable, indestructible stainless steel knife. Even stainless steel cutlery becomes stained and discolored. The expensive Shun knife is also made of carbon steel like these Calphalon knives, but the Shun knife mixes the blade with stainless steel for a higher quality metal alloy. This is a softer carbon steel that you can use to sharpen a knife blade, but it will discolor, pit, and rust. The less…
