Great camera and photo tool

I am a professional audio tuner who travels the world calibrating systems. The biggest and bulkiest item to carry around is a mic stand. With them I can travel with a couple of racks and a couple of clamps and solve 95% of the situations. They are sturdy and you can place the microphone in 3 different places in the clip. I recommend it with confidence.

  • Complete set

Practical, well-made clip

Very good quality clip for attaching the microphone clip to many objects (e.g. drum hoops). The jaws are covered with a thin layer of rubber-like material that protects what it's pressed against and also reduces the possibility of slipping (e.g. on a microphone stand). Another unique feature is that the microphone clamp ring attaches to a short 1/4-20 threaded rod that is used to mount the camera.

Sturdy construction, great finish

Just received today and felt compelled to write my review right away. These clips are bold and strong, well built and durable. My application is for quick release and I made the right choice. The clamp looks like it could handle a few hundred pounds of clamping force, but there's a lot more available. I have no doubt these clamps will last for years. Easy to use, with a smooth transition from fully open to fully closed with an applied force that can easily damage something if you're not…

Sometimes you feel crazy

The clip is great - really well designed and made. But it really should come with a 5/8"-27Mic threaded nut. Otherwise, screw the mic clamp down until it won't turn, and then stick in that position. You can fiddle with a small piece of thread. It's a tedious trial-and-error process that can be worked out with the same nut that comes with any traditional mic stand, and it's a hassle because if you buy them separately from Revain like, they'll cost almost as much as the collar itself, even though

Extremely versatile little clip

I bought this CAMVATE crab clip to use with a gooseneck and small microphone. In fact, it works great: It securely clamps almost any pipe or flat surface 2 inches or less thick. With the gooseneck I can quickly move the microphone to any desired position. You can also mount the mic directly to the CAMVATE crab clamp, although you will need a standard 5/8" lock nut to secure the mic mount once it's in place. My guess is that the CAMVATE crab clip was originally designed for photography and the…

A major design flaw - buy a rotating clip instead!

The clamp is compact, very strong and easily clings to everything. to main post, can only be tightened in one direction. There is no clutch to change the direction of the post. If I want my clip to face a different direction, I have no choice but to use tape to make sure it doesn't rotate, defeating the purpose of using the clip. I will be returning it and buying a rotating clip instead. It looks the same, only with a clutch to change direction. I'm a bit confused as to how this clip can be…

  • Special offer
Cons
  • New competitors have appeared

I've used similar mic clips from other manufacturers but this is by far the best design, compact and well made. Surprisingly, one of the best features of this mic clip is not highlighted in photos and product descriptions: the threaded portion (where the mic clip or stem attaches) can be moved to a different location on the Camvate clip. In practice, this means that the microphone thread part can be oriented at 90 degrees to each other in either of the two positions. As such, you can set it up…
