My dog had severe allergies for two years. The vets didn't help. I've tried over 20 different brands and even though they were considered grain free, they still made him irritated and itchy. That was until I found this dog food in a lamb, the only food it can eat without exploding. No more itching, hot spots. Please never refuse this food as it is the only food my dog tolerates. We switched to this food for our 3 rescued dogs earlier this year. The first few bags were ok, but in March we noticed that the food in the bag didn't look the same as usual, but unfortunately we didn't notice that until the bag was almost empty. This was one of the most popular dog foods on the Clean Label Project website. This organization tests dog food (and other products) for heavy metals and other pollutants. Little did I know that the expensive dog food I've been buying for years could be high in heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury; and possibly other contaminants such as BPA. On February 15th, 2021 I opened up a new 40 lb bag of Canidae Under Sun Grain Free Chicken and mixed it into my Leonberger food to start Canidae. She woke me up early Wednesday morning by vomiting undigested food at the door. After vomiting she seemed fine and I waited about 8 hours before giving her mixed food again. To be honest I really wanted this food to be good and I thought it would suit my dogs. I bought this primarily for my chicken, grass and grain allergy dog. I fed him this for several months. At first he didn't seem to have any problems. I then started feeding it to both of my dogs and the other (younger) dog had a problem with it. The younger dog started vomiting a few hours after eating. I stopped feeding him and kept feeding the allergic dog as there was still enough food left in the big bag.

Forgive me for being a bit harsh, but to tell the difference in a dog food you have to observe its effect on the dog. I have two tea poodles and I'm constantly looking for the best food. The size and texture of the pellets are suitable for small dogs that sometimes have dental problems. They can chew their food, but chewing is not difficult for an older dog. I had high hopes for this brand and this dog food. He had all the qualities I needed. High quality, no grain, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, no FISH OIL, the price was VERY GOOD! But if your dog is literally starving himself instead of eating this food then you are definitely saving money by making this product ECONOMICAL!
