A worthy complement to Canon EOS M-series cameras

This little thing is incredibly small and very handy for backlit indoor/night shots. I do not regret this purchase. Also, I bought it second hand so the value for money I paid was reasonable.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

Great little flash for small to medium sized mirrorless cameras

Great for small to medium sized cameras; I use it with my Canon EOS M3 and Canon PowerShot G5X. Avoids the overload effect of using a large flash with a small camera. Less power/range, but this is directly related to the number of batteries and the size of the capacitor (so more powerful flashes should be much bigger and heavier).

Great external flash trigger for Canon M50

using the external flash for studio work with the Canon M50. The Small Flash 90EX is the perfect trigger for the Canon 580EX and other Canon light-triggered flashes. This allows you to setup up to 3 slave groups, transmit in TTL mode with ratios, or set manual flash power, all from the camera's flash menu. This real little flash works great and its light weight is much appreciated when using smaller M series cameras.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

Great little macro flash

I wanted the smallest and lightest E-TTL macro flash with my SL1 and M5. I found a good deal in a never run demo and got it. It works great for macro photography with my M5, with either an EF-S 60mm macro lens or an EF-M 18-150mm lens. It mounts high enough and forward enough that even a 60mm macro at close range won't block the light. An additional diffuser reduces sharpness. The range isn't wide enough for more general use, but perfect for macro photography on any EOS camera.

I am absolutely delighted with this device. Perfect for our needs.

I haven't checked what batteries it uses beforehand. I'm glad it uses the AAA standard, which is very convenient for traveling. I needed this for my 6d when we go to the EU. It's even smaller than I thought. A soft case was also included. It was a pleasant surprise. Just tested on my 6d. Works perfectly. I already have 3 full size Canon Speedlites but didn't want to carry them around. I just needed something very simple so that once installed I could hand the camera over to a stranger to take a

Pros
  • A little over
Cons
  • Expensive

This is a little flash. It's perfect for what I bought it for, which is a bit of fill light when I'm shooting with my Canon 6D mkii. I have a large Canon 430ex that I use when I need much more controllable light. This little guy doesn't put out much more light than most cameras' built-in flash, but since the 6D doesn't have a built-in flash, the 90EX is perfect for a small flash that "fits in your pocket". All Canon EOS cameras control this flash, which is good as it doesn't have any manual…

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Ideal for filling and triggering the external flash

The 90EX was designed for the EOS M kit but will work with any E-TTL capable camera. I bought a 90EX flash to use as a missing pop up for my 6D and I fire E-TTL Speedlite flashes off the shoe. A guide number of 30ft/9m at ISO 100 means the 90EX's performance is similar to that of a pop-up flash. Why is the 90EX good? As a flash, it's great for fill-in flash, snapshots, or macro photography when using the cord from shoes. It's not strong enough for group shots. With Sanyo Eneloop AAA batteries…

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Some issues

Fantastic Canon 6D Wireless Flash Master!

I bought a Canon 90EX for a reason to wirelessly fire Canon 430EX II external flashes. When I ordered this little guy, there weren't any reviews specific to the 90EX's main features or compatibility with the new Canon 6D, so I decided to contribute to the group. I hope you find this review helpful. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments section. Let us begin! What's good about the Canon 90EX? The answer is YES! The 90EX flash is a great alternative to anything else that can trigger…
