Excellent digital camera for the price

The Canon A3100IS digital camera lets you take great digital photos at a very affordable price. The fully automatic nature of the camera is perfect for my wife who is not an experienced photographer and doesn't want to become an experienced photographer. She just wants to take pictures every now and then and share them with her family. This camera is slightly larger than the SD1400IS elven camera (slightly wider) but I still consider it an elven camera. Both camera models fit in the same…

Fantastic photos! suitable for digital cameras

Bought this camera as a Christmas present. I love taking photos and I had an idea of what I was looking for. My nephew was so excited when he opened it up and started taking photos! Can't comment on the video function (although my little Canon is great for video) but the photo quality, LCD size, settings and overall size are great! I like the 4x optical zoom with image stabilization (very important in my opinion!) because it's a good zoom with no blur. One important feature that I found…

Easy to use. as long as hands are normal

I bought this camera for my wife and I'm glad I bought it for her and not for me. This is an entry-level camera and nothing more. Image quality is good, certainly not outstanding, but acceptable for 4x6 printouts and online viewing. However, the ergonomics of this camera drives me crazy. I don't know who came up with this button layout at Canon. but they should be demoted if they are not fired. They have very long THIN arms to comfortably operate this camera. Otherwise, it's uncomfortable and…

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW for digital cameras

Yes, the pictures are great when the children are not moving, not even a little. It takes great pictures when you're outside or not too dark on the AUTO setting. It's easy to use. If it's a gift for a child between the ages of 7 and 18 then it's ok for the money ($166). However, the next picture is taken VERY SLOWLY. If it's for an adult who has babies, toddlers or small children, it's better to spend the money on a better camera. I'm not a photographer, so I'm interested in easy settings and…

great for beginners

I've taken pictures before, but usually with other people's cameras when they wanted someone else's picture taken. I'm not a photographer at all. However, I love post-processing and figured I should probably learn how to take photos. After lots of research on point and shoot models for under $300 I settled on this one and have no regrets. The picture is clear with good colors. Auto adjustment works well, and there are manual settings for ISO and white balance. The macro setting works great…

It does what the Canon "A " series should do.

This is the third Canon "A" series that I have bought. For those of you unfamiliar with the Canon range, they have been designed for users who value simplicity and ease of use. Obviously, they also aim for a relatively low price. If you are looking for something more advanced and of higher quality (both photographic and mounting), there are many other options. However, given its mission, the A3100 pulls it off. First, the usability is well thought out. The user is presented with symbols…

  • Decent performance

  • Really don't like it, everything is fine
