Ideal for home or hobby use

If you can't convince yourself that you want the features of higher models (like the 430EX) this is a great flash. It's easy - turn on, shoot, turn off. It seems a little less sharp than my Rebel XT's pop-up flash. It also claims to be slightly more powerful than a pop-up flash. Finally, I have lens hoods on some of my lenses. Therefore, the pop-up flash often creates a "shadow". This flash solves that problem. If you're somewhere between the clueless photographer who has no idea what thisโ€ฆ

Good partner for G6

I bought my G6 in December, borrowed a Canon 420 EX flash and liked the results, but was wondering if the smaller, lighter and cheaper 220 EX would be good enough? Some of the reviews here say it's too weak. That? I bought one to find out and took both out to the backyard at 8pm to try them out on the G6 in 5ft, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft. Verdict #1: The G6 has a good built-in flash. It takes good pictures in the limited range of 5m (or 4m if the lens is set to telephoto) and works well as fillโ€ฆ

Canon Speedlite 220EX is the right accessory for my S5IS

I bought this item from Revain for my Powershot S5IS two months ago. The purpose of my decision is to replace the built-in flash in case I resort to using a wide-angle lens. This external flash is excellent for this purpose. Remember I used the word "substitute". This is because the AREA of EFFECT of this flash is slightly larger than that of the built-in flash. The maximum range of the built-in flash is 17 feet. The maximum range of this external flash is specified as 51 feet. But in myโ€ฆ

Small flash for Canon E-TTL cameras

I bought this flash to use with my Canon G1 digital camera. On Canon's latest range of cameras, Canon's 'EX' flashes offer a huge advantage as they offer E-TTL metering. Without tiring you out, the gist is that when you press the shutter button, the flash fires for a moment to allow the camera to measure the actual lighting and determine the best exposure, and then the flash fires again and takes the actual picture ( all in a split second). Unfortunately, if you don't have a Canon camera, youโ€ฆ
