You don't want that smell with tea.

I had high hopes for this when I saw positive reviews about it in Consumer Reports magazine. So I immediately ordered one. It came quickly and I couldn't be happier - that is, until I boiled water in it. Unfortunately, there is a "smell" inside the kettle - maybe it's a seal at the bottom of the glass "belly". This creates a distinctly pungent odor that you don't want to drink with your tea. I've boiled the kettle about 8 times and indeed the smell has decreased but not gone away. Knowing it…

This is the best teapot we have ever used

This is our third teapot Capresso 259. It is the best teapot we have ever used which is why it gets five stars. The large heating bulb heats water fast enough for a 110 VAC kettle. The clear glass is very beautiful. The fact that you can wrap the power cord in the base is great. The automatic switch off is very nice. However, this is not ideal. The reason we had three of these is because the first died just before the 1 year stamp was replaced under warranty. Also, the plastic lid broke in two…

Do they make one that works?

So far I have received 2 delivered, the first came DOA, which means I connected it and nothing happened. Funny thing is that the second product had a lot more packaging including plastic around the kettle and cord and a plastic protector on the plug. None of this was in the first so I assume the kettle was sent back and re-shipped to Revain customers around the world. But back to my experience. The first died on arrival. Second, the lid's hinge is so tangled that I practically have to break it…

UPDATE: I'm posting this as an update to the post below. The quality seems to have changed because this one, although it worked well for a long time, has now stopped working after a year and a half. Very disappointed so will try another brand/model. My first Capresso worked well and lasted over FIVE years with almost daily use! Needless to say, despite being tempted by other similar products, I decided to order it again. After using my new one for a week I'm just as happy with it as the first…

No no - bad design

I was surprised how bad the design of this product is. It does its job - quickly boils water and shuts off. There are some annoying and confusing things. First, the bank doesn't close when a certain combination of things happens, which I was able to achieve on the first try. It has something to do with leaving the pot empty and then opening the lid slightly so the heating element doesn't turn off. I now unplug it after each use as it stayed on all night the first time I used it. The second…
