Ideal for repairing a vintage throw

I bought this yarn online to repair a vintage throw crocheted by my colleague's mother-in-law in 1974. The original yarn was wool, not acrylic, but the colors matched almost exactly. I really enjoy working with Caron Simply Soft. great colors and beautiful yarn shine.

The color change is fast.

My son got this for his school scarf art project. They used straw to weave a shawl. The colors in the yarn changed so quickly that she didn't actually create a whole row of the same color before switching, so it wasn't striped at all, more like a patch in a single skein the width of a shawl. I was expecting a major fade/ombre patch change. But it was still cheap and he was still happy with the bright colors.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • flimsy

Two tie knots in five rows. Serious?

I've been using yarn for years (including a lot of Caron) and recently I've been trying to make a very complicated knit sweater (kids sweater) and more than half of it, I don't have ONE, but knit TWO knots by 5 rows from each other (see photo)! I can't give this to a child because I can't hide it right on the edge, but I can use it on one of my dolls. Why were there so many tie knots? I have half a skein left (and I need to finish the top of the sweater and the sleeve. I sincerely hope I don't…

The quality is doubtful. Yarn not tight :(

I'm using this yarn to crochet a blanket and I'm not happy with the quality. I prefer crocheting to knitting because it's so much faster, but it makes the yarns so loosely held together I often end up with a thread or two on my needle and have to keep repeating the stitch to include all of the thread or trying to cover up missing pieces. I've included a few example photos. Makes the project tedious. I don't have this one Problem with other yarns I use. It's hard to "hit the zone" when I have to
