At first it has a pleasant smell but the next day it leaves a lingering not very pleasant smell. Difficult to explain. I can only be sensitive to this product.

The smell of lavender and vanilla goes well together. I have used several different brands and scents of carpet powder. Was very helpful in helping my pets. I do a lot of gardening and sometimes I go for a walk in the mud. It seems to help my breathing when I use it and I'm sure it helps them.

About half a bottle spilled somewhere along the way, the packaging for it could definitely be improved as there is no extra Seal there or anything else under the cover. Definitely did what they were supposed to do, the smell is a little overpowering right after vacuuming but it dissipates pretty quickly once you open the windows.

Smells great but the cons outweigh the cons for me. The powder is very fine and powdery. This resulted in leakage into plastic packaging. It was difficult to clean my vacuum and overheated which made my vacuum inefficient. Because the powder is very fine, it easily escapes into the atmosphere, making it available for inhalation. Be careful if you have respiratory problems.

The smell was very strong. Also, one bottle was only enough for 2 rooms and a hallway - don't know if that's supposed to be a super-tight coating, but it comes out very quickly. I'd screw up the lighter, but you really don't have a choice. After cleaning, the smell was still strong and not very lavender. It's been a few days and the rooms still smell dusty and musty. I won't buy this again. The containers were also wrapped in twine which was a good thing as both containers were leaking.

Tried something like this for the first time. Overall I think it worked quite well. I've used it on a large area rug and the smell is noticeably better. Application was relatively easy, but you do need to use a decent amount of powder to cover the entire area. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the product is a bit dusty and the packaging was sloppy. This product did a great job removing the stuffy smell from my apartment and leaving it fresh and floral for DAYS. However, as I live in a fully carpeted studio apartment, this product was not easy to use. I tried to put it down carefully before vacuuming it, but the smell was so strong that I sneezed non-stop for over an hour and had trouble breathing, even with all the windows open. UPDATE: They don't really work against odors. I'm not mono what they are but they are not a real brand. At best, they refresh the fibers so they feel clean, but the powder is difficult to absorb and the odor goes away almost immediately. Reading the review about shipping and packaging I figured it wouldn't matter much as long as most of the product is in the container.
