Fit great but too tight too scratchy inside

I sent back these really nice pants because I think they can be uncomfortable because they are almost scratchy inside. If I wore them they would irritate me, but I don't know, maybe the inside would soften over time and a significant number of washes. What I also noticed right away: I was surprised at how light they are. They are not suitable for northern US winters as they are too thin. Size 2 sizes up

These sizes run at least 1-2 sizes larger than older versions of pants of the same style. I've compared them to the 2016 2T I bought from Carters and the 3T I just bought from Amzn is more like a 4T in terms of waist and length. I've noticed that Carter's has expanded their sizing options and no longer trusts their fit recommendations. My kids are average height so sizing shouldn't be that wrong. I will always downsize in their brand. I sew children's pants similar to this style and compared to

The pants are not in the photo!

Not at all what is shown in the photo. I ordered gray and blue 2 packs in size 3T. In the photo they looked exactly like the quality joggers you find at Carter's: heavyweight French Terrier fabric, pockets, etc. The Child of Mine by Carter joggers were thinner fabric and had no pockets. I don't care if my 3 year old has pockets or not (although he's always glad his pants have pockets). Just the fact that the pants in the picture have pockets and the pants that arrived does not make it clear…
