This material is great for washing dishes without pre-rinsing (I've never understood why you should wash anything before rinsing. Just do it once). It also prevents hard water from building up in my old dishwasher. I use this for burnt foods and chia seed smoothie jars and it does the job.

Chose this brand ("With DAWN") because it's rated a "Best Buy" by Consumer Reports (my "bible" for product recommendations). I have an old dishwasher and don't use it much because of the low power. I decided to try this particular brand and was amazed at how shiny and crystal clear my old membranous glassware and stainless steel utensils turned out! Worth a few cents more per download. All my crockery, cutlery and pans shine again!

I made the mistake of buying another (not cheaper) brand. After several washes, my dishes had such a heavy film of limescale that I had to soak my glasses in vinegar to remove it. The inside of the dishwasher was also covered with a film. I cleaned the dishwasher twice with dish soap and then went back to Cascade Platinum. Now everything comes out clean.
