Display very dim and difficult to read

I really wanted to believe that the product image on this page shows a bright white LED/LCD, but instead there are very dim LCD segments at every point of the display. I sent the watch back, trust other reviews that highlight the downside of such a weak display.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Watch calculator, what else can I say? Of course it's cool.

Shows time. He calculates. It has a sweet, sweet 80's design vibe. What do not like. It's fun to buy everything for my kids that I couldn't afford when I was little :) You have no idea how old it is. The display could be bigger, but that's probably because I'm getting older.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Fantastic watch: Ladies

For many years I kept track of time exclusively with a black Casio pocket calculator watch. The practicality is second to none. Unfortunately, it wasn't always the most fashionable accessory. The only color option was black and it just didn't go together. Casio has finally solved this problem by multiplying the color options. The number pad on the new colorful watch is a little harder to read (the background is black, just like the regular LCD you're used to) and that detracts from the…

nothing for older people

Retro sure. bright. beautiful white. fashionable and not expensive. Great watch for teenagers or people with thin wrists. But for those who like to see with ease, this isn't for you. the black face (sorry) just isn't visible enough. and there's no backlight (an unforgivable oversight). Backlighting should be standard even at this price point. I gave my last Casio watches to my son and imagined that I would do the same with this one if I didn't like it. and to my surprise he didn't want to deal…

The Venerable CA53WF-8B

The watch works well and has useful features and the instructions are short. The style is great. Buttons, while small, are surprisingly capable of "interpreting" your intentions - it's hard to go wrong when pressing a button. The battery life is 5 years. 1 year warranty but essentially useless as it doesn't cover anything other than the circuit board inside the watch. Cons: The black background looks really cool, but if you don't have sharp eyes it will be difficult for you to read…

Classic watch but check out the black version

I have had this black calculator watch for many years. I've probably never used a calculator, but the retro look and overall ease of use made it a great watch. And for $20? Excellent value for money and quality. I was excited to see other color options so I ordered beige. Overall, I like the look of beige, and I'll probably love the look of blue. However, the beige and blue models have an upside down LCD where the numbers are light gray on a black background. It looks cool in pictures, but you…

I like the new color but the inverted display is hard to read.

I warned the original black version against high security for 24 years (see tan line and see printout for proof! haha). I was excited for the white version when it came time to buy a new one (because the straps only last 2-3 years (SEE UPDATE BELOW) and the straps cost more than a new watch). However, I couldn't see white on a black display in low or bright light, so it was only usable in medium light. So I opened up the watch and put in the insides of one of my old black and white text…

Pros
  • Enjoyable

  • Too stupid

Beautiful retro-modern watch. I remember thinking as a kid how cool a calculator watch would be. Smart watches of this era. Found this by accident while looking for other watches and considering the affordable price I thought it would be cool enough to buy with a small risk. It definitely has a retro-modern look, a classic Casio calculator in a modern color scheme. Sitting on your wrist this is a lovely trendy little watch. Unfortunately, these two things also add to its shortcomings. Retro…
